Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Bakery Scout processes when you browse the directory, use location sorting, contact us or encounter advertising.

Publisher and contact

Bakery Scout is published by Nocturnal Devs, an independent product studio at 419 Markham Road, Toronto, Ontario M1J 3E1, Canada. Privacy and directory questions can be sent to [email protected] or raised by phone at +1 (437) 366-2920.

Information you choose to provide

If you email Bakery Scout, we receive the address, message and any listing information you include. We use it to respond, verify corrections, prevent abuse and maintain the directory. The site’s contact form prepares an email in your own email application; it does not submit form contents to a Bakery Scout database.

Use my location

Location access is optional and begins only after you press a “Use my location” control and approve the browser’s permission request. Before that request, the interface explains that precise location is used in the browser to sort results by distance. When approved, latitude and longitude are kept in browser session storage and used on your device to calculate approximate distance to directory records. Bakery Scout does not intentionally transmit those coordinates through the location feature or retain them in an account. Session storage is normally cleared when the browser session ends.

External links—such as opening a map—are governed by the external provider’s privacy practices.

Server logs and security

Cloudflare may process standard request information such as IP address, requested URL, browser type, timestamp and security signals to deliver the site, diagnose problems and prevent abuse. Retention and access depend on the active Cloudflare configuration.

Advertising and cookies

Bakery Scout does not currently load Google AdSense or serve advertising. If AdSense is introduced after approval, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads. Google’s use of advertising cookies can enable it and its partners to personalize ads where permitted. Visitors can manage personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings.

The site is primarily intended for Canadian visitors, but geographic audience does not remove consent requirements that apply to visitors elsewhere. Before advertising tags serve where Google requires it—including the EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland—Bakery Scout will configure a Google-certified consent management platform and the required regional controls. Any additional advertising vendors will be identified here or in a linked vendor list.

Analytics

Bakery Scout uses Google Analytics 4 when pages load to understand how visitors find and use the directory. Google Analytics may process page URLs, referral information, interactions, browser and device details, approximate location derived from an IP address, and cookies or similar identifiers. Bakery Scout uses this information in aggregate to measure traffic, improve search and filters, identify broken or unhelpful pages and plan directory coverage.

Analytics data is handled under Google’s Privacy Policy and retained according to the settings in Bakery Scout’s Google Analytics property. Google Signals and Analytics ad-personalization signals are disabled in Bakery Scout’s site tag. You can limit Analytics by blocking or clearing cookies, using browser privacy controls, or installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Data sources and public business information

Directory listings contain public business facts such as names, addresses, contact links, hours, product statements and source URLs. A listing is not a profile of an individual. Business owners or affected individuals may request a correction or raise a privacy concern.

Your choices and contact

You can decline location permission, clear browser storage, manage or block cookies in your browser, use the Google Analytics opt-out tool and avoid optional external links. For access, correction or deletion questions about information you directly provided, email [email protected].

Changes

We may update this policy as the site, hosting, analytics or advertising setup changes. The date at the top identifies the current version.
